Hydrant Supply to Attack Line Drill
Establish a hydrant supply, transition from tank water, and maintain the attack-line pressure. This is an original FireOps Calc drill organizer for NFPA 1410-style training and department-level practice.
Use local standards: Set staffing, time benchmark, PPE, water flow, hose load, and pass/fail criteria from your department SOP and official NFPA documents. This page does not reproduce the official NFPA standard.
Objective
Practice the engineer’s transition from tank water to a sustained hydrant supply while keeping the attack line stable.
Setup
- Engine at simulated fire building
- Hydrant or marked hydrant prop
- LDH or supply line
- One attack line flowing
- Hydrant firefighter or second member assigned
Evolution flow
Attack line begins from tank water.
Supply firefighter secures hydrant and connects LDH.
Engineer prepares intake and communicates before switching supply.
Hydrant is opened and intake pressure is confirmed.
Engineer maintains target PDP and checks for pressure drop.
Crew discusses available flow and whether a second line is appropriate.
