About FireOps Calc

Why FireOps Calc exists
FireOps Calc was created by a firefighter to make pump calculations faster, clearer, and easier to understand on real calls and during training.
The goal is simple: help firefighters learn pump operations and visually keep track of what they’re pumping in the field – without needing a stack of paper charts or a complicated spreadsheet.
What FireOps Calc does
FireOps Calc is designed to be phone-friendly and easy to use on the rig. It focuses on three main areas:
1. Calculations (main screen)
The main screen is built for fast, real-world pump work. It lets you:
- Set up attack lines with hose size, length, and nozzle type.
- See the calculated pump pressure (PP) based on: friction loss, nozzle pressure, elevation, appliances, and more.
- Visually track multiple lines off the same engine.
- Work with different hose sizes and C-values, including low-friction hose.
2. Water supply & relay (where enabled)
Depending on your version, FireOps Calc can help you estimate and track:
- Hydrant flow using % drop.
- Tender shuttle GPM based on round-trip times and tank sizes.
- Relay pumping needs, including engine spacing and target intake pressure.
3. Practice mode
The practice view turns pump work into training reps. It lets you:
- Answer pump problems and check your work against the calculator.
- Use it as a quick drill tool for engineers, officers, or new drivers.
4. Tables view (reference charts)
The “Tables” button gives you a quick reference for:
- Friction loss tables for common hose sizes.
- Nozzle pressures and typical flows.
- Rules of thumb you can use on the fireground.
5. Department presets and custom setups (app versions)
App builds of FireOps Calc are being designed to let departments:
- Set department-specific hose sizes, C-values, and nozzle packages.
- Save default line setups for Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, and special lines.
- Use those presets across calculations so the math matches your rigs.
This helps keep training, drills, and on-scene calculations consistent with your department’s actual equipment.
